In the analogue era, model images were constructed and captured in architecture, cinematography, and photography (particularly in advertising). In cinematographic or photographic studios, creating scale models (1) had a lower production cost than building life-size sets. For example, in the Star Wars saga films (2), one can analyse the evolution of analogue models towards digital ones.

Currently, there are unique artists and advertising professionals, such as Carl Warner (3), who create digital images from analogue models made of vegetables, fruits, cheeses, breads, or other edible items. In the making of videos (4) for Warner’s photographic productions, one can see the set constructions of this artist. His photographs are an example of fantasy (due to the content of the images), image management (due to the working process), and lighting (for the simulation of natural and artificial light). Warner transforms still life compositions (5) into scenes that appear to be alive.
