Corto Maltese and the Interprofessional Work (Corto Maltese, Hugo Pratt & Carlos Saldi)

Corto Maltese (1) is the protagonist of a comic book saga, characterised by romance and adventure, created by the Italian artist Hugo Pratt (2). This singular adventurer, with low iconicity, was destined to die in the Spanish Civil War (which Pratt referred to as the last romantic war), but the author passed away first.

Carlos Saldi (3) was an Argentine photographer, a friend and collaborator of Hugo Pratt, who captured natural and architectural spaces that were used for the creation of some of his drawings.

In 1982, I attended a workshop in Paris on Photography and Fantasy, which Saldi gave. Hugo Pratt participated in some of his classes. From Saldi, I learned reportage strategies, and from Pratt, I learned the “ins and outs” of his character. I learned visual narrative and the importance of interprofessional work from both of them.
