My interest in photographic humanism motivated my search for social issues to document visually. During a photo reporter exercise, I met some monitors from the Llars Mundet orphanage, who invited me to their centre.

The Llars Mundet in Barcelona, the former Casa de la Caritat (Charity house), was a “Auxilio Social” (Social Aid) residence during the fascist dictatorship (See the documentary Els internats de la por) (1). With General Franco's death, the centre opened up to transparency and moved away from the darkness of Francoism.

The photographs were taken in private premises, lack historical significance, and therefore, image rights must be upheld. To extract degrees of iconicity (2) from the children's features, some of the images have been pixelated.
