Pioneers in the new stages of image (Dürer, Daguerre & Sutherland)

Historical reflection indicates that significant changes have been achievable through the evolution and exchange of ideas among diverse groups of people. Many of these pioneers were ahead of their time regarding visual communication, owing to their conceptual and technological designs.

It is worth highlighting, for example, Albrecht Dürer (1) with his perspective machines. In one of them, the Underweysung, he placed the point of view on a nail on the wall and marked the points of the image on the picture plane with a string that went from the point of view to the object.

Louis J. M. Daguerre (2) was one of the pioneers in discovering the formation of a photochemical image at the back of a camera obscura. In the early days of photography, the daguerreotype offered more image quality advantages than H. Fox Talbot's calotype (3) negative/positive system.

Ivan Sutherland (4) established the foundations of CGI, the three-dimensional vision of Virtual Reality, and human-computer interaction in visual communication.
